Holley 94 rebuild time

Time to rebuild my carb....any recommendations for the accelerator pump cup? Stock Leather vs. Synthetic

Side note: did these come stock with an accelerator pump cup return spring? Was watching a couple Charlie Price rebuild videos and there is one installed. This spring seems to be missing on mine when I disassembled.

While you are in the accel pump chamber, check for "scum/sediment" in the bottom of the chamber. There is a check ball at the bottom, held in place with a circular clip. I had to remove those parts to clean up, and ensure the passage to the spray nozzles was clear.

I agree a leather pump piston is probably best as far as lasting longer with ethanol in the fuel. The spring under the piston cup helps take slop out of the accelerator pump rod linkage for a quicker shot of fuel, however it isn't in my old Holley parts and adjustments manual for any model year with the 94 type carburetor.

Thanks for all the replies. Yes I removed the little ball and cleaned all in there. Noticed the brass needle under the squirter had a groove worn right into it as well as the existing synthetic pump cup no longer pumping. Will instal a leather one.

Any opinions on the float needle? Rubber or all brass?

Nothing better than original needle valve. Organic or synthetic valves will get sticky or leak with the modern fuel. I’ve also heard that ball valves are not so good with the new fuel.

I agree, the original type brass fuel valve seat and steel needle are great. No synthetic material to deteriorate and they last almost forever.
If your carb still has this type, I would re-use it.

My float valve needle has been replaced at some point with a vitron tipped needle. The steel needle under the squirter has a deep groove around the tip, thinking it should be replaced as well.

Has anyone used the Daytona float valve? Good or bad reviews?

I've got one in the 94 on my truck. Been there about 4-5 years. No issues, even with the California gas.

Thanks 1948F-1Pickup, I contacted Daytona parts and was notified about their Canadian distributor who turned out to be only a couple hours from me. Got the last kit currently in stock with the leather accelerator pump cup
