Default Fitting an Offy 4 barrel manifold on a 59L

Are there any issues with installing an Offenhauser 4 barrel manifold on a 59L engine. I plan to use the stock 59 fuel pump & stand, and was wondering if the stock 59 pushrod would work with the Offy manifold. I have 2 of these manifolds, ones looks like it is an earlier one without the oil fill and breather vent holes, and the other likely later with them. I measured the height of the fuel pump stand boss on both, and they were the same height. Thank you Fordbarners.

Your might need to raise the carb with a 1 inch spacer for linkage to clear radiator hoses.

The stock 59 pump rod would be a loose fit. A 59 pushrod bushing will fit in the 8BA bushing for the rod to ride in. It will close off the oil squirt hole in the 8BA bushing, but the 59 engine does not have a squirt hole anyway.

Jack, I do not believe he has 8BA block?? I think it is 59A block so pushrod should work ok.

Correct, the Offy manifold is going on a 59L. I also measured the 59 manifold and the fuel pump stand height is the same as the Offy. Thank you Fordbarners.

The fuel pump will hit the manifold. The manifold was designed to fit a 8Ba that had the mount that was angled.I had to make an adapter plate that swung the pump around. I also had to add the plate thickness to the pushrod.
You can’t use the later mount because you would have no place to put in oil

A good carb to use on this intake is the early arter. They work very well with stock jetting

I have the early manifold (fuel pump stand is across the manifold not an an angle) on my 59 series engine in my 40 coupe, running stock fuel pump. I am running a small re-jetted Holley 4bbl mounted backwards for the throttle linkage to be on the passenger side. And yes, you need to raise the carb up with a 1" spacer due to interference from the radiator hoses coming out of the center of the heads.
I also removed the electric choke and swapped the choke and throttle knobs in the dash to hook the choke up, the throttle is just a dummy now.

I used a 54 Buick WCFB. They have the fuel inlet on the back next to the pump. It worked extremely well. No spacer or adapter needed. I got the suggestion from a old racer who was there and knew what worked.

I am using a Carter WCFB that Charlie NY rebuilt and modified to work with the '40 throttle linkage, and the fuel inlet is at the back. The only issue is to make a spacer to raise the fuel pump stand to clear the #4 Offy manifold intake runner, and add that amount to the fuel pump push rod. Charlie kindly ran me through the process.

Hey Mike.....I see that you pay attention to that 'fine detail' work pretty-much like that Kubarth guy does....really looking nice, there. Which exact intake manifold is that? That looks like a 4-bbl manifold for a pre-'49 engine, correct? If so, did you cut that hole in the runner for a PCV valve? Dick D

Another option is using a Holley 4000 teapot style carb, which will also bolt to the small 4 bbl. pattern on the intake manifold. Don't really see this done, and not sure why. I know there are rumors about if being a fire problem, but I really don't believe that. I've been doing these carbs for a long time, and they are not prone to fire more than any other carb.
I have a few '56 292/312 Holley carbs restored with auto chokes, that can easily be fitted with an electric heated choke thermostat cap to avoid plumbing a heat tube to the carb.
