1931 Ford Parts Value? Nice original stuff

Looking to see if anyone is interested in a package deal only for 1931 Henry Ford parts taken off a roadster to hot rod as a highboy. So- 2 front fenders, drivers side welled for spare, 2 rear fenders with step pad, front and rear bumpers with brackets, front valance panel, running boards with nice covers, splash aprons, steering box and rod, headlight bar and lights with horn attached. All from a 40K mile car with one 1950 repaint. No tears, welds or rot. Looking for a fair market price to list in the classifieds. Or call me (860) 913-4680 Parts located in CT.

When I hear of another original car being hot rodded, I shake my head in despair. There seems to be an air of arrogance about those who think they can improve on the original which has been about for nearly 90 years in this case. I bet the hot rod won't be about in 20.
I ask "If he has NICE ORIGINAL STUFF, why is he wanting to destroy the car?"

So guys, i hate to break the news to you. Those of you who have been under a rock since WWII ended. Hot rods started because 50 mph was not enough and guys wanted to have fun. Seems like you have the arrogance (synchro909) that your original car has a pedigree and maybe you are better than all "other" car owners. If the shoe fits. Oh, and it is finished and daily driven, is yours? Better? Heck ya- real brakes, more power and lighter. No shiny paint to fret and stress over. Keep an open mind. We love your original ones.

Unfortunately that's true, and it's already too late, as the deed is done. I just think it's so wrong to hot rod a nice original car when there are already many unfinished projects, and new aftermarket bodies to use.

Ebay and Craigslist are full of the ghosts of long abandoned hot rod projects. Chopped bodies. Modified frames. Seems every rodder wants to point to a picture and say "see what i started with?" But half seem to never finish the job.

What will the rodders of 2050 do when they are stuck with only the remnants of ill advised and insufficiently planned hot rods? Or will they be bitching about the guys in Civics?

So yeah. Rape a perfectly good stock Model A for the body and title. Try and sell the scraps at a premium to the stock guys. Lord knows there is a huge demand for yet another rolling chassis. Be sure to add the word "rare" to the description.

(Coming from a stock guy who wasn't even born until nearly 40 years after WWII and has put 10k miles on a stock A at 45 mph)

Wow! He immediately becomes a deplorable? Why not just answer his question if you must comment? His car and he takes it out every day. I do too. but I don't see nearly as many intact A's out there as I do hot rods. They also bring more money than the originals if done up correctly. To each his own taste. I'd never venture here with parts for fear of being blasted even though I'm not building a rod. No wonder we see so few parts listed for sale.

Stick a 21 studder in there and 16 inch wires and a dropped front axle and you may have something.

As it is, it just an ole man's Model A with a few bits removed.

No matter how nice the work done on that, it wouldn't be allowed on the road here. No where near up to scratch.

I think you had better go look at the Hamb site there are a lot of what are called bangers in Australia that are just like it that are on the roads there.

Yep, I see all that banger needs is fenders to make it legal in OZ , BUT there are a lot of bangers running around here without them.

Mudguards are only the beginning. A car modified like that must be inspected by an automotive engineer and comply with the same requirements as any other car car built in 2017. That includes collapsible steering column. at least 2 speed fan on the heater/ demister, windscreen washers, seat belts etc etc. A Hot Rod is considered a new car and so must comply with current standards. Any who have such cars on the road without engineering certification are running a HUGE risk. If they are in a collision, the driver is likely to be sued. He wouldn't have a leg to stand on and the penalties could be huge if someone is injured in either car.
I can think of only one similar car I see around here and he went through the certification process. BTW, it has mudguards.

Fact is he lives in Connecticut,having been there I can attest its a long way from Australia..From the looks of the car he didn't take a saw to it,and like other bangers it reflects a period in the timeline of the Model A..this one looks good too,so many of them look like ass,its hard to get that style right.

I just picked up a 1931 chassis from a guy who is going to hot rod the coupe body. Looks like it was a long stalled restoration from the 1970's. The engine was rebuilt April 11, 1970 and the Denman's are from 1978. Now if I could find some sheet metal to go with it...
