Default Column drop location?

So I replaced the destroyed cab on my 1.5 ton truck with a better cab and this problem persisted after the swap. Essentially the column drop appears to stick out too far. It was this way with the rusty cab and is the same with the perfect cab.

Is there a way to tuck this farther under the dash or is this what it is?

Have you tried loosening the bolts that mount the steering box to the frame. Maybe there is enough play in the holes to allow the column drop to match up to the dash. Once the drop is secure, tighten up the steering box bolts.
