New Member - Please Help with VIN# ID
Thank you for adding me to this amazing Forum! Please help me understand the VIN# and Data Plate on a 51 Ford Victoria. Can someone decipher the following information? VIN B1MP - 153295 and Data Plate 60 DH AC 7M109.
There is also a data plate on the drivers door "91Mery - Paint No J" Please see images. Thanks! |

B= V8, 1=1951, M is assembly plant, Metuchen,NJ, P= body style,Victoria

The one on the right is home brewed. A previous owner likely put that on there. State sanctioned VIN tags I've seen have to be fixed with rivets or screws but that stick on one may have been for paint or trim added at a much later date.
Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln tags in or around 1951 were starting to get more information on them. Paint codes and interior trim codes were included plus codes for the month & day of final assembly. A person needs either the chassis parts catalog or the body parts catalog (depending on make & model) for the year of manufacture to decipher what the codes represent. |
