What do you use in a parts cleanig tank that does a good job and does not cost an arm and a leg?

Depends on how much your arm and leg are worth.

I use Stoddards solvent, it can range anywhere from $10-$20 / gallon depending on where you get it and how much at a time you get.

I use mineral spirits, but it is a little (understatment...) pricey. Off-road diesel I have heard can be a decent parts cleaner. Plus, the price
is a lot better then mineral spirits.

I use a cleaner called Agitine. It works pretty good, plus you don't have to fill out any papers to buy it.When I can get my hands on it I like the Safety-Kleen solvent. That comes with the rented parts washers. In the past I've used 3 gallons of kerosene and 1 gallon of naptha. It cleans well and the naptha lets the parts dry off pretty good.I've always found mineral spirits to be useless, more so with the new odorless stuff.

I think this boils back to exactly what are you cleaning? My parts cleaning tank uses heated caustic. This is awesome at removing grease. Let us know what type of machine you have and what you are needing to clean and maybe we can be more specific.

Brent i bought a 2nd hand spray gun cleaning tank , has a number of jets & is run on compressed air. plastic tank. Looking at using it to clean greasy parts , also looking for suggestions as too what to use for a cleaning licquid, paint thinners were used before i bought it but highly explosive so looking for more suitable cleaning licquid for a try, I did pay $1-50 on e bay here for it & had to drive 6 miles to collect, seller was pissed as expected to get a lot more for it but listed as $1 start,

Gunk SC Super Concentrate works real well but is hard to find locally anymore. You dilute it with kerosene.

I use paint thinner/mineral spirits for greasey parts and soak carburetors in acetone.
