Default Pan gasket replacement. 1940

I'm changing out the complete exhaust on my original flathead. While it's out of the way, planning to replace the oil soaked/leaking pan gasket.

Anything else while I'm there?

Tks Gents

4 core plugs in pan rail if your engine has them, put in new oil pump and clean sludge out of oil pan.

"complete exhaust" includes exhaust manifolds. If you're going that far, do yourself a favor and pull the engine to do the job, because if you don't, I guarantee you will encounter unanticipated problems.

Plan is to replace the manifolds with Reds headers

What would be the problems you mention?
Tks

I doniwant to jinx you with possible issues, but you may have a broken exhaust manifold bolt for starters, which itself will need the red wrench, something you don’t want to do in tight spaces.
As for additional tasks, pull the timing gear cover, check the gear, and replace the entire rope seal, top and bottom. Replace the front motor mounts also. You have oil leaks, so check the rear main seal and slinger. While you’re at it, give it a solvent wash and a fresh coat of paint.
Do you want to do these things from under the car?
