Question Adjust toe in question...

Recently replaced my outer tie rod ends and drag link, so after reading over several posts on here about toe in adjustment, I understood I needed to loosen the clamps on my drag link and make my toe in adjustment that way but after rotating the sleeve for several rotations on the drag link I discovered that this sleeve only moves in one direction or the other making each ends threads shorter or longer, the length of the drag link never changes, so I actually need to make my toe in adjustment by loosening the sleeves on the outer tie rod ends and rotating the tie rod in or out and since the tie rod ends have different direction threads, so if I rotate the tie rod in one direction the width of the tie rod in creases or the other direction is gets narrower, correct?

The pic shows the long new shiny sleeve on the pittman arm which does nothing when I rotate it but move to different sections on each side's threads, it does not lengthen or shorten the pittman arm, but I need to make toe adjustment by adjusting via the older dusty tie rod behind the pittman arm which will push out or pull in the back of the tires and creates more or less toe in, am I saying that correctly

Thanks for the confirmation 19Fordy!

I know this doesn't help a whole lot right now, but there are two service bulletins that detail alignment procedures and specialty tools; January 1936 and September 1936.

After doing the toe in, the drag link is then adjusted to "center the steering wheel" lock to lock, if needed.

The tie rod should have a left hand thread one end and a right hand thread on the other. Then when you rotate it you alter the length. If your car has a non stock tie rod with rh threads both ends then the length will not change. The same goes for that short sleeve on the drag link.
So, when you replaced the tie rod ends were they lh and rh threads or both rh (or lh)?
If they are both rh you will need to undo one end and move one or both to get the length you need.
If you have lh and rh threads you can get infinite adjustment. If you have 2 rh threads you are limited to adjustment increments of one thread pitch.
