Default 31A S/W 4D TS Restoration

My questions for today?

What size fastener is used for this application?
How long are they?
Am I correct that the are installed from the inside?

Thank you,

Yes slotted heads inside
They need to be long enough to go into the threads but not so long as to rub the header cover
Don't fully remember but likely 5/16-18

Should the head of the fastener be "vee" shaped? It appears that the inside metal shows signs that this might have been the fastener that was used.

they are counter sunk 5/16-18 X 1 1/2 slotted screws. I cut them down so they do not stick out past the wood header. here is a picture of a original set up
