Default carburetor screw identification...

I'm attempting to use two SR B Winfield downdraft carbs. I do not have operation information

Can anyone identify the two small brass screws and their function

The four larger brass screws are for idle/pump/high speed/intermediate speed screws. I've got these 4 screws id down, but haven't figured out how adjusted.

Pictures screws/carbs:

The 2 "screws" by the adjustment needle screws are vents, they thread into the housing that is why they are threaded and have a slot in them. You should start 1/2 turn open on idle needle, 2 turns open on intermediate, 2 1/2 turns on high speed, and 1 turn on pump. These base settings will let you start the engine and adjust from there.

Hey Steve,
THANKS much ! I'll copy your advice and see what's what.

Steve,
I'm curious if you have, or do now, run Winfield carbs ? If you have, what is your opinion of their operation, say compared to strombergs (both carbs downdraft). Some that I've talked to in the past, say that Winfields 'are simplistic and run very well on an A/B engine.

Hey Vince,
You seem to have a bit of everything on your great site ! Thanks, I'll study that material. Seems that this S info is / can be applied to my SR carbs...absent the pump info.

I run Winfields, an absolute great carburetor, very simple and all external adjustments. Currently rebuilding 9 Winfields for customers right now.

Hey Steve,
That's great news to learn !
Looking at my two SR Bs, first do you see anything missing from that you can see ? And, would you have any linkage setups for my set , for sale ?
If so, maybe I can Pm or phone you ?

Did you have those replated? Look mighty clean compared to most of the Winfields I find.

Hey pan,
yeah, they were gone thru and over completely and are as new. I'm really anxious to hear / see how they perform. I'm a Stromberg guy, maybe will convert, eh
Steve gives them a great rating and that's exciting, coming from a guy who rebuilds/restores them
Just need to figure out and get some linkage parts to connect the two. I know a few guys with giant amounts of parts/carbs, but they are too far distant. Sounds like Steve will help me though.
Are you running your Winfields and if so , how do they perform for you

Rick, I run a BB S model downdraft. So far I have a thousand miles on it. Plan is to upgrade to duals when I get the funds to build another motor. Winfield head is original 6-1. Who did the bronze plating? Ken
