Default High Gloss Black Paint

What is the highest gloss true black enamel paint that sells in a rattle can? The rustoleum high gloss has a gray look when dry-- not true black. Thanks.

Try Krylon gloss black. I used it often, wet sanded and buffed it. Cheers

What are you using for a primer?

The primer can affect the surface hue.

Then you also want ask which color black
Yes, there are blacks with blue and yellow undertones and probably more. I have only experienced those 2.

I have the same problem with rattle can black. Seems they all have a bit of a grey look to them.

I like Valspar Tractor and Implement gloss black. Sure looks black to me. Tractor Supply used to carry it but then changed to their own brand (probably to save costs). I have found it on Amazon (6 cans at a time).

I was going to suggest that too. You can see my black fenders when I brought them home. Go to my profile and c.lick on "My A". How ever, They dulled us after two years of just sitting, no color sanding or compounding yet, I'm sure they will come back. TSC's paints are available in bulk gallons or spray cans. The problems are that most brands of spray cans are lacquer. Check this out . The name of the company is "Magic" and it seems to be US made, Another brand that's good is "Magnet" paint. The Magnet Paint co. has been making paint since 1915 in Brooklyn (I think) NY. Some people on the barn have used Magnet Paints with good results. Google Magnet paint

I like Duplicolor gloss black engine paint with ceramic
It goes on great , holds up well. The next best to using mixed paint and a gun
Available at the common auto parts stores like advance.. Etc

Larry; I too have had good results with Dupliclor black. Pay careful to the subsequent recoat times, too soon and it does bubble up.

I have had good results using SEM paints in rattle cans. A body shop person put me on to using these. NAPA caries SEM paint in rattle cans. I have also resently used the black sold by John Deere. I doubt they make it but that is where I found it.

Also a good automotive paint supply shop can put automotive paint in a spray can for
you. It won't have the hardner in it but it works well.

As Mike said gloss black Appliance Enamel. Wish they made semi-gloss for carbs. It's impervious to gas

I have had success with "VHT" (very high temp) Engine Enamel. Available at Auto Zone. Great shine, tough gas and oil resistant finish and again follow the re-coating directions.
