Default Body work

Can some one tell me what has to be done to correct this problem? After taking off all the paint on my 60 falcon I have some bleed thru my primer in spots I did not touch . Will I have to sand down and remove what ever is under this primer to fix this problem?

Yes, you will have to sand that down and make sure it is clean before you re-prime. Use a quality degreaser, that is made for automotive refinishing, before priming. What is your primer?

I can tell you what primer it is, inferior, means you are going to have to spend some $$ on better products, maybe a direct to metal primer (dtm) also,, not all primers are meant to go on bare metal,,,

Thanks for the info. I am going to take it to a local body shop to have it painted but I think I will resand it and make sure there is no issues before I take it. I think I may have used the last of some old primer in that spot hope that's all that's wrong. It has been about a year so that looks like the only spot.

did you use stripper to remove the old paint you have to strip the entire panel back to bare metal and degrease /clean with a good prepsol and reprime as asked before what type of primer did you use some of the new finishes do not like lacquer primers of yesteryear you should go with a 2k primer surfacer

No that is the problem I guess , I did not get it clean enough and sprayed over some old primer and did not get all the way to bare metal.

I had similar issues using enamel paint , when I put the first coat it was ok, but second coat made it bleed through, paint shop said instead of stripping it all back off that I could use a good epoxy primer and seal it , then repaint.
Although I have not tried it yet.
