what is it made out of?
Hi folks, with out going into detail as to why, I want to lengthen my shock links on my 34, can anyone tell me, are they cast iron or steel? to be clear im talking about the two piece link that's used with knee action style shocks. Ken

MOST ARE STEEL. C&C (800/266-0470) sells them in lengths 3,4,43/4.

Typically all parts like that are forged steel, with exceptions being more modern Chinese stuff. Welding will be obvious as to its iron or steel composition. Weld it up and you will know by how well it goes. I would't hesitate to do it. I'm 90% sure it's steel. It's not a high risk job. Even if it failed it's not a dangerous part.

Commonly referred to as dog bones. Look in the green bible for lengths of shock links from different years. As to what they are made of, some are cast, some are stamped, I don 't know which about your year.
