Model A Frame
I have a spare model A frame that has been in dry storage for over 50 years for a someday project. I no longer have a use for it and need the space in my shed. How do I tell what year it is and what is a fair price for it?
Thank you in advance. |

Re: Model A Frame
I will have to look and get back to you.
Is the number stamped on the wide rail right behind where the battery sits? |

Re: Model A Frame
The frame number is stamped on the top of the frame rail, just to the rear of the left front cowl bolt hole.

Re: Model A Frame
I pulled my frame out in the sunshine and so far I can not find any number.
I am going out again to see what I can find. I will keep you posted. |

Re: Model A Frame
Try wire brush and then white chalk, or a pencil rubbing lead sideways on paper laid over number.

Re: Model A Frame
Figment has described the correct place to look for the number: on the top of the left (ds) frame rail, not the cross member behind the battery box.

Re: Model A Frame
Still can't find any number. Has some surface rust, but mainly original black paint.

Canadian frames were not numbered.

Post a picture of the front cross member and the emergency brake cross shaft.

Re: Model A Frame
Thank you, after supper I will go out and look again.
I just returned from a 20 mile ride in my 1930 coupe along the Mississippi River Road. First on the Minneapolis side of the river then crossed over a bridge then along the St. Paul side parkway system, then back home following the Minnehaha parkway. |

Re: Model A Frame
Look for the hole where the steering comes out. If you have the same hole on the passenger side it's a 28-29

Re: Model A Frame
It may be further back than the pointer indicates. The number on my late '31 Tudor was beyond the crewmember.
