I have never seen them advertised by any of the big suppliers.

Re: 39 brake drums
There is a company I believe in the mid west that rehab's brake drums. Not cheap IIRC. I have the contact info somewhere (I think). Maybe someone will chime in with the info.
Found it: https://www.jgrelining.com/

Re: 39 brake drums
If you get a price from them, could you let us know? I am afraid it will be very high (that company specializes in redoing Pontiac 8-lugs, and you know how much money those guys have).

Re: 39 brake drums
MT Car Products
From their website "These drums will work with our backing plates or with original 1939 - 1948 ford hydraulic backing plates. They come in the stock 5 on 5-1/2" pattern. Sold each $135.00" They must be used with hubs that mount inside the drums 39-40. When I talked to him he said 46-48 with hub on outside will not work. Has anyone had experience using them? Re: 39 brake drums
I couldn’t find my quote from J&G but if memory serves me they were just north of $300for Drum and shoes (1935 Ford). From their website they work on a wide scope of drums and the quality looks superb. The drum is restored to original.
Since original drums are still popping up I elected not to go down this road yet.

Be careful how you read this info. The "drums 39-40" quoted above is incorrect, as '39 drums are WIDE FIVE. That should read "drums '40-'41". What they are actually TRYING to say is that their '40 -'41 replacement DRUMS will function properly and fit properly when using '39-'48 hydraulic backing plates. NOTE...that wheel studs will have to have the swages cut and each stud removed to separate hub and old drum. The swaged studs must be cut and removed PROPERLY so as not to bend hub's flange. The MT parts are of the utmost quality. Don't settle for the Speedway 'look-alikes'! They ain't the same as MT drums. DD |

Re: 39 brake drums
I know 300 a wheel seems like a lot but a disk conversion can be expensive. The new Mustangs have some mega dollar super brake option. They can keep the pretty painted calipers, wide 5's are total class.
