How do you like this great little model of a Halibrand Quick Change rear end? It doesn't answer your question, but is a neat little piece.

There's nothing wrong with rocking the stock banjo until you have the funds for a genuine quickchange; it's perfectly acceptable. The faux add-on deals are lame. Might as well get some faux Ardun valve covers, too.

Of all the parts I sold off through the years, this is one part I wish I didn't sell. Something so cool about it.

Well, it is an odd ball piece for they are worth more than a QC center section, but it takes a special person to want it since if you are tearing down the rear, you can just as easily put in a QC which gives you the ability to change ratios.

They were deigned for dragsters since the cast iron ones would come part under heavy loads at take off.

I think Orosco is getting $2K or more for his. An original NOS unit would be worth more.

Whether anyone would pay $2K for a non-QC center is the question.

Super cool piece and would look awesome under the right car.

For what it's worth, I paid $50 for mine back in the early '00's. It was from a roundy round guy and he didn't know what he had.

Nowadays it's for the SUBTLE nostalgia snob...a rare, high buck part that only the elite will even notice! Mine's magnesium, and picking it up is always a surprise it's so ridiculously light.

Just looked up Orasco's version in his on-line catalog, still listed at $1500.00. It sure looks cool for those who just want to spend their $$'s to just look cool, but I would rather have a real working QC.

Part of the problem here is an aftermarket center section looks nothing like a QC!

Here's my Speedway 'QC' on an 'A' rear. (I wrote a review on their website stating what had to be done.)
I'm happy with the look. I once rode in a car with the real deal and the square cut gears were really kind of noisy.

If'n ya don't try to do the fake QCs properly, they can surely come-out looking rather "cheezy".........even worse than "fake-looking"! DD

That's part of the fun/allure of an early V8 QC, the sound! Some of them can be quite loud. These were primarily race items. If you are wanting the gear change capabiliy and quiet, there are more modern QC units with angle cut gears.

Nice work, especially the adjustability. I'm saving those photos.

That set up with the closed drive QC worked really well. What you see there was not much more than the cost of Orasco's aluminum banjo housing. I can adjust the rear stance of the car by about 4" total. The maximum height of the cross member does not require any modifications of the rear floor pan, such as a rectangular hole cut for clearance, as some suggested I would need to do with this conversion.
I have detailed pictures showing how that cross member was made. If you send me your email addy in a pm, I will send them to you.

I'd be interested in seeing the pictures as well. Could you post them here?

I'd rather not put them on this forum.

Yup, that whole deal was just WRONG......a nice '36 3-window "as-purchased" from previous owner by Heard. It has since been re-done...cleaned-up and made "RIGHT" again. DD

Hi all: there is a '32 in the Portland area that has the spring in Front of the QC. Mount is moved forward and spring shackles are on the radius rods. Newc
