( 276CI, 4in. crank. .125 overbore, Esky 400JR cam, full skirt pistons, racing valve springs, 185 Offy heads, 160# compression. 8BA block, aluminum dual carb intake.

Sounds great !! Can I ask what jets you are running in the carbs ? Also, do you know hat the initial timing is and what the total timing is with no vacuum advance (if you even have a vacuum advance ?)

You usually have to do some playing with a hot engine like that, right now on test stand I'm using 50 jets, crab is set in the middle of the slide, vacuum brake turned down about 2 turns. When you get the engine on the road you have to play with timing and vacuum brake, if it's pinging you have to screw the brake down some. Don't let an engine ping, hard on pistons rings. Walt
