Default Looking for a chrome plating co in SC/NC

Hi,

I have a 1928 Tudor and it has its original headlights. But the previous owner painted the buckets black. I would like to have them chrome plated. Does anyone know of a shop in the Charlotte, NC area that can plate the buckets?

Thanks,

Randy

To be correct they should be nickel, and nickel has a much nicer, richer look than the look of stark cold chrome.

Have you tried alcohol or paint remover to remove the paint and see what's underneath? I'm sure it's pitted, as that's the usual reason for painting over them, but it still might look better than the black.

Contact Craig in Ohio, his work is great and his prices are very sympathetic to Model A people! Craig Riker 419-537-1291, 419-290-4442

We used S&H Chrome Plating in Madison, Tennessee 1-615-865-0100. The did a number of things for my garage, and did a very nice job.

I 2nd Leo's advice to call Craig Riker
He has always done me right. With original buckets that have been painted just beware that if they are rust pitted that time vs money/reasonableness of doing them will come to play unless your doing a point car , and then you would want to find the best out there.

Craig is well versed

Thanks for the advice and names. I think I am going to remove the paint and see what they look like. At least then I will know if they are worth spending the money having them plated.

You might try a call to Smith and Jones in Columbia. I'm sure they have some sources.

This is a very good ideal for any painted 28-9 headlight bucket. There could be, and probably is, a good reason why they are painted.
