Spring Time PM: Banjo Bolts, Wheels and Head
I'm just saying:
It's a good time to check ALL the rear differential "banjo bolts" as several tend to loosen up. It is recommended at every 2,000 miles and it appears the rear most ones are susceptible to looseness. Air the tires up and check lug nuts. Head bolts are a good thing to check once a year too. |

I took my own advice and sure enough the two Banjo Bolts on each side at the tube area were loose. One head bolt moved slightly with the torque wrench...lugs were good.

There's no recommended torque value on the banjo bolts, right? (Beyond the general torque guide based on diameter, material, and thread)

Interesting; where is it listed as recommended maintenance.
Something I do every 4 or 5 thousand miles, is pull the starter and verify the bendix bolts are still tight. PS doesn’t matter if you have the “modern “ one, as it loosens up as well, the broken bolt just doesn’t fall to the bottom of the fly housing. |

Yep, they were mostly 1/4 turn loose and some 1/2 turn loose.

Re: Spring Time PM: Banjo Bolts, Wheels and Head
I stumbled onto the page A-1 Maintenance in the Andrew's book and it saved me before I drove 400+ miles roundtrip to Gettysburg in 2017. Lot of good stuff there. Glad it worked for you.
