Window regulator refurb
Does anyone have any experience or insight on possibly restoring window regulators on a 1929 Fordor?
Not sure if I should just buy the reproductions, or take the time to restore the ones I have. Seems like sand blasting them (i have a sandblaster) and then replacing the clock spring would be enough.

Re: Window regulator refurb
Yeah. they also don't roll up all the way though. I can pull them up as I crank to get them up all the way, but they'll drop a little. So I think the spring isn't holding them very well.
I'm still rebuilding the old girl, and have gotten to the subject of the doors, so I figured I'd put the window regulators on the front burners now.

Re: Window regulator refurb
You'll have to see why they don't roll up all the way, then there is also a locking spring on the pinion shaft for the window crank. This spring winds tight to the handle shaft, but releases it's tension when the handle is turned. Make sure this spring is good, or the window can fall down.

Re: Window regulator refurb
If you do decide to buy reproduction units, stay away from the ones manufactured by Vintique. The ones that Snyder makes are much better.

I am getting into the habit of asking Who makes the parts when ordering now so I can decide if I really want or need that part if made by Vintique. |
