Hyd brakes on a '34 --differently?
The previous owner did some modifications and I am using/correcting them; '40 style brakes. First I made front hose mounts for the crossover pipe [under crossmember] used the shock mount holes. Photos: Then the PO had reversed the brake pedal with a welded on rod mount [under the pedal]. So I fashioned a mount for my favorite MC. A 62-64 Cadillac drum/drum unit with a 1" bore and 5/16" tube outlets adapted to the 1/4" Ford. Even the outlets are toward the outside. Used the Battery box holes. Had to move the battery box to the right tho. Easily serviceable thru floor board [PU] . Black drain pan got in photo under MC. My painter is coming along and I have to hurry. Comments... Newc

Man, the KISS system just works! Simplicity and using common sense is hard to beat. I sure do like the dimensions and everything about that Caddy Master Cylinder. I sure do wish you would promote that MC every time you get a chance. I really like what you're doing there! Coop . |

Re the bracket for the master cylinder: The inboard end could probably use a second fixing preferably higher up. I can imagine a tendency for the bracket to twist, with the rear of the cylinder deflecting downwards under heavy braking. Imagine standing on the pedal with all your weight. It has to be able to contain that sort of force, multiplied by the pedal ratio. A simple tab from the top of the angle forward to the X member leg would do it, it looks like there might be a bolt available in a handy place. A bit like this: (but tidier) |

Ok Mart; added twist brace. Now to the final tubes and the rear diff hose. Black doesn't photo well. Shocks/links will be stock type. Newc

Last post on this subject: Bent all the lines and hooked up the diff hose. Had to build a mount/clamp for the torque tube line. NOTE: the CAD M/C requires two brass adapters - master cyl adapters from NAPA. Part No. G49500-0504 NEWC
