Default Help needed please from Kiwis

Slightly off topic. I am in the process of restoring this vintage foot pump.
Cast in to the pedal are the words PEC Marton.

I am lead to believe that PEC is the name of the manufacturer and Marton is the town where it was made on North Island, NZ

Having removed various layers of paint I am keen to find the original colour.
Does anyone know or indeed have contact with the PEC company which I believe still exists.

Try this for their website and contact: PEC.co.nz. Not aware of this firm, but I'm from Mainland and NI is a foreign area to us down here.

While I can't help you with the colour -PEC was owned by Brendon Deere. Marton is about 20 mins from were I live . Brendon made a fortune with the company making electronic fuel pumps for the world. He has an interest in vintage aviation and has restored and operates several vintage aircraft . Attached is a link to a photo of the Spitfire IX he restored . It is being flown by a friend of mine Sean. Brandon restored it to exactly replicate the Spitfire his Uncle Wing commander Al Deere flew in WW2 He also has an Avenger and Harvard in his Hanger as well .

Well bugger me! That's a very interesting bit of trivia. Being an avid reader of WWI an WWII history Al Deere is probably NZs most revered WWII fighter Pilot. He started the war in France, through the Dunkirk evacuation, Battle of Britain, the rest of the war through to Nomandy and rose to become an Air Commodore later on. He lived in the UK after the war and died there.

Graeme,

Issued to the Air Ministry, here's a WW2 double acting foot pump. Another piece of trivia that Al may have used to inflate the tyres on his Spitfire. According to the manufacturer this pump was capable of 300 psi

Amazing what we Barners get up to ?
