Restoration Books
Hello! I am attempting to do a complete frame off, body disassembled, every item taken apart restoration of a 1929 Roadster. I am looking for books that have exploded views, parts lists, body assembly, tips and tricks, and everything under the sun about this car to back together properly. Any information wold be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Restoration Books
You might want to be more specific as to what to do for a restoration.
Are you trying to restore it as a points car? Or are you doing a complete rebuild so that you have a really nice reliable driver? My car's not a points car, but I would suggest that you get the judging standards. The first Les Andrews book has good information and drawings on how to take apart and put back together just about everything in the car. There are other books, and you probably can't have too may books. Steve |

Re: Restoration Books
I want to make this car a driver but, I do want to make it as nice as possible and correct as possible. I do have a copy of the judging standards. I just believe you can never have enough info and I want to do it right. I don't want to miss anything when it comes to the small stuff. I want to do it right. Thanks!

Before You Start Taking It Apart
Restoration is fun. You may find interesting repairs made by former owners. I found that one of the most important things you can do is to take pictures of everything (as you found it and take it apart). After the pictures, tag and bag (box) everything. It may be a while before you clean and reinstall all those parts, and it is easy to forget which way it went. Have fun, Bill
PS sometimes the former owner put it on wrong. |
