Default Spin on oil filter

I have one of the Spin On Oil Filter kits on a motor I will be putting in my CCPU project. I also found an adaptor to change the filter from a horizontal position to a vertical position. The adaptor is a Ford oil filter mount #97JM6884AA. I know others have used this adaptor.

The adaptor screws on to the motor using a bolt that is the same size as the nipple on the valve cover.

Can someone tell me if the nipple on the valve cover can be removed?

Yes, the pipe nipple unscrews on the ones I have seen.
