Default Fender Skirts for '34

Hello,
I have a set of all steel fender skirts for a '34 Ford. They appear to be restored. I've had them for about 25 years or so but stored them away and never used them on my car. I was considering selling them. However, I can only find one post on the internet about '34 Ford fender skirts with 3 sets in that thread that sold, but no more information or what they sold for. Any idea of the value?
Thanks,
Arthur

Sort of looks like a 33/4 Pontiac set with the v8 over the old chief. I believe skirts were available for the Pontiacs but only after market for Ford.

Hi Everyone. Arthur I saw a pair like this in June 2012 at the late Larry Bailey's place in Georgia during a V-8 Club meet tour. I just got the one snapshot, didn't even get a pic of the whole car.

I can only imagine what they might bring during an open auction, but I'm thinking you would be very pleasantly surprised. Adding: I think you would be shocked. There is a proper following for fender skirt fans.

Edit to add: I found another shot of the rear of the subject vehicle.

This last shot, when we returned from that tour, is of my Dad's baby with it's skirts on.

That was a memorable day as we drove through the north Georgia mountains.

I'm on your team here Kube. I like the cleaner body lines without any kind of fender skirts on the cars of this period.

The original (unanswerable) question was what are they worth?

Just one of Digger's NICE '34s wearing these skirts in the past!

Love the skirts, and if you get tired of the look, just take them off for a while…

Thanks for the replies.
Does someone make reproductions? I can't find any info on reproduction skirts. Is there a way to tell if they are original skirts or reproductions?

Those skirts were reproduced in about 1992 or 93 by the late Bruce Johnson in Minnesota. I know because I sold him the original set that he used for patterns.
He paid me $1,700. back then for the gennies

Here is another photo of the inside of a Garwood skirt. I have little knowledge on these but believe there are a couple of different styles of the latching mechanism. either that or the reproductions have the different latch. It appears they were made for 35 and 36 also.

I doubt the OP's skirts are repro, I've never seen a company reproduce parts with rust pits. All the roughness and other stuff on the inside seems to be hiding something. Price of anything is dependent on condition, as well as rareness.

I have a couple sets I want to put on my cars. Can't figure out how to mount them as originally intended with out having them fall off as I drive down the road. Does anyone have any guidance as to how they mounted them.

I just bought this pair of original skirts back, so now have a pair of the Bruce Johnson repops and this original set. Note the originals are much thinner/lighter sheet metal.

For whatever it is worth, here are the ones I had made for my 36. They are now painted and trimmed and will go on in about a week, this shot was a test fitting just to make sure before the paint went on. unpainted skirts.jpg

I think you'll have to pay someone to take them off your hands.
