Default Re: Model B engine, 28 model A.....change carb from Tillotson to Zenith?

The question has been raised about the performance of the Tillotson F-1B carburetor. In february 1941 I got my 1930 Coupe and it had a Tillotson F 1B carburetor. I never gave the carburetor a second though from 1941 to the early 1990's. The old Tillotson ran perfectly, never a problem, and consistently 25-26 mpg. The car was semi restored in the early 1990's and a Zenith replaced the F 1B Tillotson. Gas mileage dropped from 25-26 mpg but I noticed no change in performance and certainly no stalling with a sudden stop. That is a tale about a carburetor that needs overhaul. Today the Coupe runs well on the Zenith, but I have the old Tillotson on the shelf.
