Some of these old cars are like gettin' into a BAD MARRIAGE & are STUCK in it!---It seems worse, when you first wake up in the MORNING!

It's a 1931 and hasn't ran in 3 years been parked a long time. He says he wants $7500 not a dime less and wants to know tomorrow. I felt this was a little high. What does The Barn think?
I'm not one of these "the cost to restore is more then it's worth" guys. Unless you get the steal of the century, no model A will sell for what you have in it right away.

But with that, no, walk away.

A) You already have one. So if you don't need something to do to keep you busy you don't, why?
B) Why are there two ammeters on the seat?
C) Why is the instrument panel apart?
D) Yea, it ran when I parked it!
E) Lot of panel replacement.
F) and so on.

He wants an emotional sale, that is why he says 24 hours. He does not want you to think about it or do any research (guess he does not know about us). What will happen in 25 hours?

The Gas Monkey crooks sold one in much better shape for the same money.

Offer him $4000 and give him 24 hours to make up his mind. Wayne

Tell the old guy you want some of whatever he's smoking as he must be high on something.
But let the hot rod guy buy it maybe it will make our cars worth more money............

Here in va it would bring 7500.00....then remove the fenders, hood and wipe her down with wd-40.
Get it to run/drive around the block. Price it at 10,995 or a little more at it will sell quickly.
You can see this was a nice car at some time.70's restoration?

If it was here in Texas he'd have already sold it.

If I ever decide to liquidate my collection, I will advertise it in Texas. Obviously car values are substantially higher there than in the rest of the country. Wayne

Maybe we should all chip in and buy it so the rod guys don't get it.. We can then sell it in OZ and make a huge profit

What I see is a lot of hard to find parts and a great project but I would sure wave a much lower stack of cash under his nose .

A lot in price and real market value depends upon where these things are located. Here is the heavily populated northeast, stuff usually sells for more than in the middle of the country.

And too . . . 'Hard Cash" does really talk loudly. As crass at it might be, carefully un-pocketing a wad of tasty Ben Franklin hundred dollar notes has quickly dislodged many "firm prices". Never be afraid to walk away! Also too . . . "he who speaks LAST looses the better deal." Make the real offer and then remain silent. At least that's what I was taught long ago by a couple of pro antique / junk dealers. Most times the procedure worked.

Thanks everyone for their reply. I just left the gentleman's house. He would not budge from $7500. We walked away.

Yep, look at this for $6900 ....to you guys just a load of parts that you would maybe offer $1000 for ....

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/logan...ect/1109070554

If it was closer to me I would grab it.

I sold a running chassis similar to this with a fibreglass half put together roadster for 9K last year.

Had 3 guys fighting over it.

eBay prices mean nothing unless it is a completed sale where reserve was met. They can ask anything they want, but the important price is what did it sell for?
