Default 2014 Holiday Motor Excursion

The Southern California Horseless Carriage Club 59th Annual Holiday Motor Excursion was yesterday in Pasadena, CA. It is always a great time to see a real variety of automobiles. My guess is that there were over 200 cars at the early morning show before the tour began at 10:30 for pre-1932 cars. I will post some pictures.

My wife and I use to go but we moved to Oregon last year and have been so busy we couldn't make it. It is a really good show.

I always try to just "happen" to be in LA for the Holiday Motor Excursion. As usual, it was a really great event. I got to drive a car I sold to a friend many years ago. Lots of exotic brass cars and some really nice big nickel era and classic era cars rounded out the pre-1932 pack. There was also the usual great selection of Model Ts and Model As. Car count must have exceeded 150, but that is just a guess. It seemed like every time I turned around there was another car I hadn't seen. The Southern California roads were just flooded with old cars. I feel this event grows every year. When I lived in LA years ago, the tour attracted maybe 20 or 30 cars and our small group left from the IHOP Parking lot near Pasadena and concluded the tour at Doug or Warwick Eastwood's (RIP) house for cocktails. What I found notable this year was the amount of young people on the tour. While most were passengers, I saw some older teens and twenty-somethings as drivers. Also, there was a fair amount of younger families driving some really neat early cars that I hadn't seen before. I am sure these young kids will remember bouncing around in the back seat of a touring car longer than they will remember what Santa got them for Christmas. Happy New Year!
