Only one's around here not made in China. Three times the price and ten times the quality. NAPA also has junk points if you want to go cheap. 'Not in my car you won't'

I always think it's funny that the "modern points" are called modern. Considering they were designed for a 1950s - 1970's cars when they are antiques themselves.

That being said, Lately I've had a lot of problems with reproduction ignition parts on various antique cars I own. Mostly distributer caps, points and condensers, and even one very expensive voltage regulator which failed in a very short time.

I've begun to look for either NOS or gently used ignition parts as spares as a result as something to collect at flea markets. They don't take up much room, are relatively cheap, and were made in large enough numbers that the quality control was pretty tight.

Nos or Gently used parts are a good idea. I have 23,000 miles on my used points in my 28 A

I agree. When I bought my Studebaker 2 years ago the owner had spent over $300 for a new regulator and rebuilt generator. They worked, but not as well as they should have, so I removed them both and bought good original parts off a junk yard Studebaker. I restored them and it now has a better charge at idle, and the ammeter needle doesn't flicker.

To update this topic:
I have since found (some earlier posts lead me to it - thanks) that the ignition points made for a Ford Cortina, Escort or Falcon etc fit nicely on a Nu-Rex Model A top plate. They are excellent quality, still being made in Australia and available in most New Zealand auto stores for only $20. If anyone wants to get one the part number is GF82V-C.
Cheers,
Mac
