Brake specialist in the Netherlands wanted.
As there are several menbers living in Holland i am hoping the can give me advice on a brake specialist in Holland for the model A.
My brakes are ..........well lets say non braking.Making a lot of noise but no stopping power. Handbrake locks instandly one wheel. I'll keep adjusting the brakes(follow many video's and manuals but no cigar! Thinking of renewing what is needed, problem is i can't determine what is needed,i am not a brake specialist. Stupidly buy all parts new is an option, but will be costly and perhaps not necassery. I am willing to pay a specialist and parts needed,if you know someone please PM me. René

Model A brakes are not rocket science. If you enjoy doing mechanical work on your car do it yourself. Take your time, take pictures and learn as you go. On the other hand if you don't enjoy that type of work or are physically unable to do it I can understand getting someone else to do it for you.

Re: Brake specialist in the Netherlands wanted.
Yes thier simple really as long as you get things back to thier tolerances and replace/weld up wear points on others.
If you go slowly and methodically taking lots of pictures along the way thier not any harder to do than modern car brakes.

Hey René, long time no post. . Check youtube for a video on setting up brakes. That might be of some help. It's helped me. Good Luck. Jeff
Sorry, just re-read your post, that you've gone on line to see videos. My bad! . But Good Luck still. Jeff

Hey,
If you do not succeed at all: Please try contacting Yesterdays Cars. They are absolutely competetive in brake works and sell fine cars, especially "A"s. BR Gerald |

Re: Brake specialist in the Netherlands wanted.
I know model A brakes are no rocket science,i watched a million video's how to do it.......
However i want to do it myself i am not able to do it , Last Decembre i found out i have cancer, been batteling it since then and had surgery last monday. This treatment and surgery has taking it's toll on me. The treatment and surgery were a succes, the cancer has probably gone now but it will take some time to recover,i have lost 40 kilo's in weight and can barely lift a spanner so doing the brakes myself is not gonna happen. But i like to drive my model A and still can, putting the car on blocks and wait until i can do it myself or get help from a neighbour is no option, especially i don't have the workshop for the car at home but 10 miles away. @Gerald 1961........i did'nt know Yesterday's did service, thought they only were trading,i give them a call......they are not really around the corner of my house but they might be an option. If there is someone who knows his stuff about model A's and is able to help and earn a few bucks,well......that's also an option. There is no hurry, but on the other hand i don't know have much time i have left(i am hoping to get very old but you never know). René

Re: Brake specialist in the Netherlands wanted.
Dear Rene,
all my best wishes for your health to you! You are right, noboby knows how long life lasts. Therefore, drive your A as long and as much as you can. So do I. Some years ago, we bought our A (my Avatar) from Yesterday Cars. Elvin Slegtenhost cared very much for the brakes of the lady-with astonishing good results. After 16000km in our A, I keep the brake in the same performance. So it is really worth asking Elvin to help you. Good luck and best wishes Gerald |
