Reproduction fender braces too tall?

I bought a pair of front fender braces from Snyders and put them on the huckster in the spring. I thought my fenders looked a little "tall", but as they still need metal work, I ignored it. Now that I put a headlight bar on( yes, it's a 30/31), the headlights are about an inch higher than they should be. Has anyone else used these repo braces or can you suggest what might be the problem ?
