Houdaille shock rebuilding - Need bushings help
Hey all, as the title kinda suggests I need help with rebuilding my lever shocks off my ‘30 A. When I bought the car it had the two fronts but was missing the two rears. One shock appears to be original ‘30, the other seems to be about ‘32-‘34 based on what I could figure out. Anyway I got them both apart and they’re in amazing condition, I’m just having trouble tracking down replacement rubber seals for them or even diagrams/drawings to make my own. If anyone could offer some advice that would help a ton. Thank you!

Re: Houdaille shock rebuilding - Need bushings help
They bout have to be in amazing condition to hold pressure.
Maybe all you need is the shaft rubber but there is a large o ring around the cover and cover ring. Neoprene is more available. Also it takes packing (I use o rings) on the adjuster. There are some great articles in very old model a magazines dealing with shock rebuilding Any more it is rare to get originals to hold pressure but you can up the viscosity of the fluid. Most are using gear oil or hydraulic oil rather than glycerine these days ....at least I do Good luck |

Re: Houdaille shock rebuilding - Need bushings help
the one on the bottom right is a 32, they are taller then the Model A and they bend a lot of brake rods. they both look like they are good enough to reseal. Snyder`s was one of the only venders That I know of that sold the correct seal for the shaft. but the last time I ordered seal kits, they came with and O ring not the correct seal like before.
