Default trico motor parts for 31 deluxe roadster

I checked the swap meet and didn't find anything.

Does anyone (or know anyone) that has a shaft and paddle for a trico for a 31 deluxe roadster?

Until perhaps 8 or 10 years ago vendors sold a kit that contained the parts you need, but the kit was discontinued by the manufacturer. Your source today might be a used shaft and paddle from a wiper not considered rebuildable due to pitting in the chamber walls.

There is a rebuild kit for the paddle but the shaft is not available separately except for swap meets and ebay but even then you will most likely have to get a whole wiper. can't hurt to check with www.wiperman.com Trico Vacuum Wiper Service (Ficken Wiper Service) (New York) to see if he can help.

Wiperman did not have any parts. I'll look through ebay.

I have a complete spare chromed roadster vacuum wiper, and will be getting a shaft for it (the original broke) through a friend. The paddle, etc. will be attached to this housing with a rebuild kit. The entire assembly will be available, but I cannot give a definite time frame. Joel R. Shaw Fairport, N.Y.

I called John and he does not have any shafts.

The end of the shaft broke off. So what would be the best way to weld the 2 pieces back together? I brought the pieces to a welding shop today and he said he couldn't do it. The shaft is brass. You would think that it would be steel.

You, or maybe a jeweler, could silver solder the broken part back on.
Any pictures of the part?
I'm wondering how much work it would be to fabricate a new shaft?

I am going to try to solder it. I think it just might be too soft of a fix. Hey I have nothing to lose.

Don't use lead tin solder, use silver solder like Tom said much stronger.

Anyone have a clear line drawing of the shaft? I have a metal lathe and access to brass rod.

Update:

The wiper shaft is fixed. I just let it run for about 5 minutes, and poked and prodded on the shaft and it did not come apart.

I soldered the joint and it was much stronger than I ever thought it would be. I then filed the solder down smooth.

Then I got a copper tube that was a little bigger in diameter than the shaft. Drilled it out so it was a little larger. Then I filled the tube with JB Weld and slipped it over the entire shaft so that it would bond and hold everything together. You really cant tell when it was installed that anything was ever done to the shaft.

I have to admit I was worried when I installed the spring and the metal clip that goes in the groove because of the downward pressure it places on the shaft. The break was about a 1/8 of an inch behind the groove (closer to the windshield).

I doubt I am the only one to have shaft problems. If someone could reproduce the shafts they might have a good little repair business going because no one remanufactures them.

I am one happy camper.

Attached are photos of the buffed out motor that was repaired.

I had some pock marks that were originally sanded out with 320 grit then buffed.
