Trunk lid support arm
My question! is this supposed to pivot? where I'm pointing this part is powder coated, I think and solid.

Why not anchor the mounting bracket in a vice, spray the pivot joint with WD40 and work the arm until it loosens up. Beats ruining the powder coating with heat.

Hold a soldering iron on the rivet while it is clamped in the vice or screwed to a piece of wood or bench top then start wiggling it. You won’t cook all the powder coating off where you don’t want to. Just around the rivet head will melt. Just my opinion…
