I’d take the shock off and bring it to your most trusted parts store, they should be able to match it up with something.

X2 on taking them to a good trusted parts store. If no one can help come back here and send me a PM with your extended and compressed length of your old shock(center to center of the mounting points) and I may be able to help.

Jim ..... I see numbers right on the very bottom of that shock pictured .... looks like a "72548". I'd bet that number will cross-ref to something. Take it to an old parts store with an old dude behind the counter and ask him.

When I took ownership of my 1939 Ford Deluxe Convertible in 2021, it had no tube shocks on the rear but it did have tube shocks on the front. I ordered from Bob Drake the following kit: HR-18000-K; 1935-40Car & 1935-41 PICKUP REAR SHOCK & ANTI-SWAY KIT. PRICE WAS $229.75 I had a Muffler/Shock shop install it for me as he had to reroute the exhaust pipe to clear the shocks. I did not have the anti-sway bar installed. I ordered the kit because I needed one shock mount from the kit plus some hardware. I am sure that they will sell only the shocks which will save a few coins. And your tail pipe will probably not need modification like mine. Hope this helps

Napa auto parts listed 1948 shocks- a few years ago.
The chassis are real similar.

Not sure about this but try to match the weight of the car to the shock otherwise you could end up with a very stiff ride.
