Default They are only original once- 1950 Ford F-1

One of my best friends, Garrett, traded into this nice original 1950 Ford F-1 pickup. It came from Montana. He told me about it, and asked my opinion on it and whether or not he should get it. He likes old cars, but is no expert of early Fords. I told him I'd jump on it!

So he brings it over, and I am amazed how original and untouched it is. Very nice little F-1 pickup. Has a V8 and 4 speed. Milage is 66,340, and I found a note on the visor showing an oil change on July 4Th, 1964 at 61,190...so it was not driven much after 1964.

I cleaned up the truck and waxed the inside of doors and dash. Removed the seat and scrubbed the floor clean. Inside of the gas tank looks brand new...I have no idea why a tank with some stale gas in it did not tar or rust all up...but it looks new and I do not think the tank has ever been out of the truck. The previous owner installed a new ignition switch out of something newer that wont work ,and had he starter solenoid wired backwards. He stated he had tried to start it with no results. The original ignition switch was in the tool tray, lock cylinder gone. I dug around my junk stash and low and behold...I had a NOS cylinder and keys! So will install that and see what happens

Our plan is to get it running and driving, and Garrett will decide if he is going to keep it or sell it. I wish I had money and room, I'd like to have it haha.

So here it is. Most the paint is gone, but it is a pretty dang strait little pickup.

My dad has a '49 in that same green color. Your buddy's truck has less rust than my pop's, but his has more paint.

Fun trucks and great score for your buddy or a new owner if he decides to flip it.

A friend of mine spent 10 years restoring on if these to original, It came out perfect. Early in the restoration I suggested some modifications to the suspension and stearing. But he insisted on going original. He finished it and it came out beautiful. He sold it a year later. I asked him why? He said, it belongs in a museum.

Super nice little PeeCup. Get it running right and drive the wheels off of it.

It has a little of the "new" worn off but just enough to be good & broke in. Damn good shape for a driver.

I am not a F 1 expert, but I think that bumper was an accessory. Its not the normal bumper you see on a F1.

Front bumper looks bent in the center to me and the rear is non Ford.

I've seen these old trucks with all sorts of home spun bumpers on them. My older brother made a rear one for my Pop's 52 F3 out of 3-inch drill stem so that we could weld a heavy hitch plate on. I've even seen a few old bed steads welded on the front for that cow catcher look.

The guy my buddy got the truck from had a few wires unhooked under the dash. I hooked everything up and with a little wiggling here and there, amazingly everything works, even the horn and aftermarket radio (well lights up and static)

I also pressure washed the engine and decided to pop the intake off. I figured it had some stuck valves, as it wanted to fire but would just pop out the carb. Sure enough, 3 stuck intake valves. I have them soaking now. I'm hoping I can get the free without pulling the heads. I'm sure once they are free, it will run. This engine is very clean and untouched. That red paint is original, and notice the "X" mark on the head...I'm sure that is a factory mark

Nope, currently in my garage awaiting me to free up the stuck valves so I can see if it'll run or not
