'57 T-bird Paint
Hi Barners,
Do we have any Thunderbird aficionados out there who can advise me on a 1957 T-Bird. What color is used on the underside of the front fenders?? Is it black OR is it "car color" OR is it "red primer". Getting ready to scrape off the under-coat of yesteryear. Thanks. Milt K from Pa |

Re: '57 T-bird Paint
If its original from the factory it would be car color.
Under the original car color would be red oxide primer. If the primer color is black the fender has been replaced. Not likely the fender has been replaced as that job is terribly complex to accomplish properly. Oldmics |

Re: '57 T-bird Paint
I should look thru my restoration manual binders... but I'm pretty sure I saw in there somewhere that the (primed) body shell, with fenders and radiator support, was painted top to bottom with whatever the 'car color' was spec'd to be.
