Stromberg 97 Jetting
I have a Stromberg 97 on an Ansen manifold on my Model "A". It also has a Miller Head and header. I need recommendations for jetting size on the Stromberg. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Stromberg 97 Jetting
I find that my stock jetted 97 does just fine on my vintage Cragar OHV head with headers. I assume that your Miller head is the new reproduction OHV by Steve Serr.

Re: Stromberg 97 Jetting
I also have a vintage Crager head. Stromberg jets are stock. I have a problem with the plugs sooting up in a very short time. Also black soot in the tailpipe. What sparkplugs are you using? Other than that the engine runs fine.

Re: Stromberg 97 Jetting
Check your spark timing the Miller and Cragers like different advance curve than normal A + B models
as mine may have different cam and compression etcetera to yours best to run it on a dyno and get the correct Nos for yours |

My solution: Changed out the crappy, too-cold TT10 plugs to Champion W-18, upgraded my distributor cam to the Model B version available from Bill Stipe, and installed a 40KV epoxy filled ignition coil from Pertronix (thanks Purdy Swoft!). Otherwise, my ignition is stock Model A. Needless to say, I now get INSTANT starts, squeaky clean plugs and lots of zip and pep from a MUCH hotter spark. Re: Stromberg 97 Jetting
I have a Mallory dual point distributor and a new coil from NAPA. I have Champion
W-10 plugs in it, they were in it when I got the car. I assume they are to cold. I'll see if I can get some W-18"s and see if that helps. I also found I have TWO different main jets in the carb! Don't know where that cam from. (Also on the car when I got it). I have 44's and 45's on the way and a 65PV. Thanks for your input. Mollydog |
