I took this picture 2 years ago at about this same time of year. Off to the right of my pickup is a 7 foot wall of snow. (That is my front yard.)

23 years in Alaska, and every year I'm told: "This is not normal." Not sure what "normal" is ???

Well it was 12 deg. F here (Pa) this AM! The night before it was very close to zero F. Yesterday I went to Jackson, NJ to check on a house I own. Good thing I did. I had left the valve for the bottom zone of the heating system closed last time I was there. Part of the water line was frozen and it took me quite a while to find the ice and unfreeze the line. Finally, just before the snow hit, I got the water circulating. It was exciting! Come on global warming!

My parents, In the 1950s, used to say that the winters were warmer than they recalled. They used to say it was always below freezing and the ground was always white when they were kids from late November to March. That would have been in the1915-1925 era.

You said it! Those wishing for snow, be careful or your front yard will look like this!

BTW I just passed the 700 lb point in ice melt use! I have 250 lbs left so I am good for two or so more storms, then ???

Back when the Rio Grande river ran through El Paso mosquitos were pretty common in the upper valley with all the irrigation canals. Since Colorado and NM stopped releasing water, the Rio Grande is a great place to drive the sand rails. We see water in it for a couple of three weeks in the spring sometimes, when the cotton farmers are planting.

But having spent 4 days in Pennsyltucky a couple of weeks ago, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't happey to get home. Can't drive the pickup this week cause the AC is brokern/

haha
Let's apply some logic here.

If cold, ice, and snow were such a great thing, the southern states would be totally empty!
