Engine mounts
Hello, I am new to this site. I have a 1957 thunderbird that had an engine and tranny swap. It now has a 79 302 in it. Someone fabricated a front engine mount that uses two of the timing cover bolts to hold the engine. It is not adequate. I feel that the side engine mounts are better. What are your thoughts?

Re: Engine mounts
Isn't the 302 timing cover cast aluminum? I would think that's not a very desirable mounting point!

Re: Engine mounts
1955-57 Thunderbirds share the same suspension as 1954-56 Ford cars thse are the mounts they use here. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...-mounts.41498/

It has to have side mounts (fabricated) with a crossover tube to tie the rails together (IMO). The mounts Jeff showed are for a sedan I believe but is what final design/install will appear. FORD took the cheap way out for the mounting as the engine set so far back.
