AA truck brake switch question
Working on an AA truck in the shop. Replaced the wiring harness in the truck.
Everything is working now except the brake lights. Tester on the switch indicates the switch is not working, no continuity. There is a spring assembly that pulls on the back of the switch when the pedal is pushed. Can anyone advise how the spring holder on the opposite end of the spring is adjusted to allow the switch to work properly.???

Re: AA truck brake switch question
You can loosen the two bolts holding it to the transmission tower and move the body of the switch. Perhaps that will be enough to allow it to activate. If not you will most likely need to pull the top cover off to see what is amiss inside.

Re: AA truck brake switch question
Are you working on a 28-9 AA truck or a 30-31 AA truck?

Re: AA truck brake switch question
There were two types used for 1930-31 trucks, none with a spring.

Re: AA truck brake switch question
We are working on a 31 AA Truck. There is a spring attached to the brake switch, not a chain like in the photo. The other post referring to the tower is not this truck. Snyders shows a spring in their catalog. Just wondering about adjustment of the bracket on the brake rod.

Re: AA truck brake switch question
Here is a picture from the parts book of AA-13511.
There are good pictures on pages E-18 and E-19 of the Judging Standards. |

Re: AA truck brake switch question
This is what we have under the truck after we cleaned it up and installed a new switch. Just wondering about the adjustment of the new switch. Somewhere is the life of this truck someone changed the set up.
