Default 1932 Coupe bodies.

In the mid 80's I had a 32 five window that had been restored but unfortunately caught fire a was completely covered in rust. It was a "B" model but everything was there. I also had a 32 three window body that was missing all the reveal moldings and the rumble seat lid. My question? I sold the pair of them for $750 and I'm wondering what if? Oi Vey. That was then, this is now. How many of us have similar stories!

Yup, been there, done that. Worked for an American auto maker with a union job. Every three years was contract time, and not knowing who the targeted maker was, had to save every penny for the family bills. Would you believe twice during that time real bargains came up that I let go? Today, we can order a new all steel five window body from Speedway. Yes boys and girls, it does cost a weee bit more today. As usual, just out of reach!

I always wanted a 3 window a 32 but never found one for sale that was in my price. I have always bought and sold cars to get ahead in life. Now at a rip old age finally got a 3 window. It will be about 3 or more years before I get it on the road the way I want it. I have sold some of my Junkers to round up the money to get a 32. I should have done this 30 years ago but time passes I guess. I had to promise Mother this will be the last car I will buy again. The other day I got a phone call about a nice 53 that for sale but I did not say anything to Mothe about that. Maybe in a couple of months she will forget about it I hope???

My grandfather had a nice 1932 five window coupe, brown in color. He sold it in about 1990-1991 to a Ford dealer in Richmond Va. Back then I was only 11 years old. I hated to see the '32 go but what could I do? Wish I knew the whereabouts of that car today.

I purchased a Deuce 3 window, body and frame for $85 in 1962, my sophomore year in High School and like a fool sold it in 1964 for $100 when I enlisted in the US Navy. Man if I could only go back!

I don't usually add to this type of post but.....
I don't want to bore you all wih all the cars I bought
and sold in 55 years. One thing I learned early:
Look ahead, don't regret what you did in the past.
If I had kept what I had I never would have gotten what
I got after! If you are happy when you buy and happy
when you sell, what happens after you sold it doesn't really
matter. And, You can only drive one at a time!
Just my $.02

PS: I've wanted a '32 or a '40 since
I was about 10. Still haven't got one,
Still want one, still too expensive!
Look ahead.... Someday!

Built a 32 5W in 61, Olds engine, 39 trans, banjo rear, full fendered, split w/bone, dropped axle, hydraulics and hyd clutch, Ansen pedals, SW gauges, chrome garnish, etc, Honduras maroon, white insert and r/boards, 820/600 15's. You know, typical,. Sold it and my 40 Olds powered coupe in 72, I think I got 600$ for the 32 and can't remember how much for the 40. Also had Nomads , 61 vette, a 64 Impala 2 dr h/t (winter crasher). Who knew??

Your coupe sounded cool flamingo! I was messing with Olds engines in about the same time period (and later), had a daughter that liked them.

All of us have one of these stories. Mine is a 32 3W that 4 of us bought when we were teenagers, late 50's. Me, two cousins, and a fourth friend. Got it from DD Don Blair, I think we gave him 50 bucks. Clapped out old race car body, on wheels, Olds rear end, no engine or trans. Chopped, channeled, very sparce floor, no glass. The four of us messed around, I donated the 36 engine and trans, the other guys donated other stuff, exhaust, labor and other parts. Got it running. And, we all left town. Two cousins went in the service, and two of us went to college far away. When we all came back, none of us thought about the car. In the 90's, we all happened to be together, and wondered what happened to the car. We guessed that one of the Mom's got rid of it, junked.
We never knew, not a clue.

My first car was a $50 Model B standard coupe, which will give you a good idea how long ago that was. I only had it about a month before it was replaced with a $90 V8 Tudor.

My latest is in the before and after photos below.

I bought a 32 five window in 1971 with an 8ba installed. I drove it on occasion until 1977 when I parked it. I just got it back on the road 2 weeks ago after 40 years. Why I never sold it, I don't know, just lucky I guess.

In 1966 could was offered and test drove a DB-4 Aston martin convertible in beautiful condition for 3K
Total it is worth almost 1 million. But in those days All I could afford was a 300 dollar corvair convertible. I could just scream

Hey Frank,
Not to de-rail this thread but here's my '61 DB-4.
Bought for about $4,000 in about '94, Sold in about '98
for about $25,000. I drove the wheels off!
Smiled when I got it, Jumped up and down when I sold it.
I didn't regret it either time!

well I'm glad it was not worth a million..I don't feel so bad now.
I guess the db-5 is the car worth a million. In 1966 3000$ was like a million dollars to me anyway.

Ya Frank,
that's the one like I had but mine had a 327 with about 340 HP
and an M-21 Only about 100 HP over stock!
I'm happy I had it, when I had it, and the guy who will spend $600,000
won't have near the fun I did! You think he's gonna drive that car
150 MPH like I did? Or stop light drag it?
NEVER!!
