Ted I have always assumed that the fan blade came off and this caused the inlet manifold to break . However I wonder if the manifold broke first and that caused the fan to hit the coil and radiator and break this way. I remember that I was running one of the Parts Houses 34 fan belts which are to small and it was pretty tight . Maybe this contributed to the disaster -Karl

Fan belt play is around 1/2 to 3/4" I believe. I think it does not do a lot of good to generators or other pullies without some play in the belt.


Does seem strange that "that" bolt would give before the gen bearings or pumps to me anyway. So little stress on a very thick bolt, would think that something else would give first.

well got my intake switched out today . Kinda like rebuilding a chimney ,,,,step one to a hundred. take it apart ,and put it back to gether again . I didnt break anything ! all by myself took me about 4 hours . Just got back from getting icecream downtown . Plymouth.Rock is HOPIN Thank again for the help an comments. Mike

It looked nice when I dropped it in !All pretty Mercury Blue! 37,000 original miles ,not rebuilt . For now I,m consentraightin on a safe and dependible ride ,cosmedics takes a far second .Not looking for a prettyboy truck ,dont have the money,Dont really care . Maybe somday but for now I just want to drive it .Living a mile from the GREAT Atlantic probaby doesnt help WHA WHA WHA
