Default Ignition Switch Help

Hi All,

Looking for any help on this ignition switch:

1. Switch year: 28/29 or 30/31?
2. How to remove rear plate to replace wire connection
3. How to remove switch from housing; should it have a plunger to remove switch?

Thanks in advance...

I have worked on an ignition switch and it was not a reward experience! I did get it back together and it did work. The back plate is a crimp over and you have to take a small bladed screw driver and carefully tap the edge back off the disc. If I remember correctly, you don't have to go all the way around. I also got access to the switch and was able to clean it up with fine sand paper.

Most recently for my next project I sent a switch to a fellow in I think North Dakota. For $150-$175 the switch came back fully re-conditioned. Even the part that the key goes into came back plated. It was a work of art! He even set up the ignition key so that it was the same as the door key. You will spend hours on this project and you risk damaging the switch. Look in Hemmings for the repair specialist. Good luck, Ed

That is an aftermarket replacement switch, not a popout.
