Default 1950 8BA Fan Hub

Does anyone have, or know anything about, the maintenance free fan hubs which utilize bearings that several of the vendors sell? Good, bad, worth the money? I have the original style and am thinking about replacing it before it causes problems. Thank You

The old oil lubed fan from 1942 was used up into the early 8BA era and would be considered a maintenance type since it has to be serviced now and then but is very reliable. The later 8BA types use a double row bearing similar to a water pump of the era. These will last for years and can not effectively be serviced. A person can use a universal double row water pump shaft & bearing to replace a worn out shaft & bearing but some shaft cutting and pressing is required. Nothing is completely maintenance free over time so that's an advertising ploy that's as old as time.

I've got a double roller hub on my truck. I took one look at that
factory setup and immediately wanted to change that thing out.
(the maintenance requirement to change the oil..... I've got better
things to do with my time, let's put it that way)
I work for a bearing manufacturer here in the US. The life of the
sealed bearings in my hub will likely exceed me by many years,
provided they don't get contaminated.

I put one on my 49 F1 about 40,000 miles ago and have never touched it.
