Default Carb Jets

Have been running rich with a 65 jet in my flathead 6 cyl. Installed a 60 and still plugs have build up of carbon. Any advice or help appreciated.

That's a pretty drastic main jet change. You probably have an issue with a high fuel level form a sinking float or other reason, like the power valve/jet leaking or hanging open, or leaking fuel valve and seat.

Also, did you clean the plugs before you re-evaluated after the jet change ? Once the plugs get black like that, it takes forever to clean up while driving.

G model sixes got .064 or .065 jets, while the early H models got .052.
So I'm assuming this is a G and trouble is something other than main jet! I don't know anything about the 2 carbs or how they vary.
