Default How do you tell the difference between 28/29 and 30/31 rear fenders?

I know that for a given year, coupe, roadster and pickup rear fenders are the same. What are the distinctive differences between 28/29 and 30/31 rear fenders or an easy way to tell the different years apart?

A28-29 rear fender is going to be wider at the top than a 30-31. Almost two inches.

Look where the splash apron attaches. There is a distinct difference.

I just noticed the splash apron difference. The cut is deeper on the 30/31.

Is the bead and opening about the same?

30/31 fenders, where the splash apron goes, are almost square cut. 28/29 rear fenders are more rounded in the corners.

The width at the top should be close to the same, the 28 -29 is about 11.5" as is the 30 31. The only thinner rear fender is for the 31 wide bed pick up which is 10". the rear bottom of the fender is different as well, the raised area at the bead stops on the outside edge on the 28 29 and the bead sort of continues across the bottom on 30 31. The front cut out is as others have stated.
