Default Sidemount brackets

I have been told the old original side mount brackets are better than the newly manufactured being sold. Comments on this please. Thanks. Jim

Jim,
It is like almost all parts, original Ford parts, if they can be found and/or restored, are better than almost any repro part, including side mount brackets. You know an original side mount bracket will fit the frame holes and have the correct arm shape. Original side mount brackets come up on eBay on a fairly regular basis. Bert's in Denver has a lot of original parts, so you could check with them to see if they have any available.

A common complaint is that new reproduction parts do not fit or look proper. Not so with the originals. Go with originals wherever possible. Wayne

I always like to use original parts when I can, but don't be afraid of the repo side arms, I've had a repo on my car for 35 years and 40,000 miles without any problems. Just my thoughts.

As said, you can never go wrong with the original parts Ford put on them. Reproduction parts are miss or hit (that is backwards on purpose).

I for one am happy to have repoduction parts as they sure beat none being available. But like others prefer original equipment.
