Is there still a market for a V8-60 race cam?
Curious, is there are market for a V8-60 race cam? Reason I ask is we had a very nice V8-60 core for sale at Hershey. It was picked up and put down all day, but no takers.
I'm thinking of having it sent out to be reground to a race grind. Is there still a market for these cams? |

I had two V8 60 race cams on my table with nos bearings, rods etc. No takers on anything. A vender one row over had two sixty motors one full race another complete but stock, again no takers even though the price was reasonable. He stopped to see if I was selling anything because nobody was even stopping to look.

Tim. Don’t waste your money. I am loaded with 60 stuff including race cams. Unless you next to give it away no demand.

Re: Is there still a market for a V8-60 race cam?
About the only market left is either vintage race boats or vintage midgets.
There is only one grind that will perform adequately in either of these categories also and that is the 404jr. It is a radius lifter grind and is VERY expensive to do and install. If you want to know about vintage race boats, read all of Rich Willim's stuff. For vintage midgets, there isn't very much reliable stuff to read. They CAN and have many times been made to beat Offy midgets easily but it ain't cheap. |

Thanks, all. Looks like I'll be making door handles out of this cam core.

Here is a pic of one. Not a flathead Ford but the cam can be anything. Crankshafts, distributors, connecting rods and stacked pistons can be used also. Last edited by Pete; 10-08-2023 at 04:01 PM. |

That sounds like a much better choice.

The one I did I used a V12 Allison core because it is hollow. I didn't have to drill it.
