Default 7-1/2 years later…my project is done.

I joined Ford Barn in October 2015. That’s the day I brought my ‘37 truck project home. My first post was of the truck and what was correct and what was not.

I immediately got lots of positive input and advice from members. Over the years I’ve asked dumb questions aplenty, but all were politely answered and I learned a ton.

I started into this with the mindset that I was gonna try to keep it as original as possible within my limited budget resources for an old 1-1/2 ton truck. I wanted it to look as it would have on my grandparents farm in the ‘40’s. I’ve managed to keep it about 90+% original with the help of members who steered me towards old parts and plenty of swap meet scrounging. It still has the correct 1937 motor, still 6 volt and mechanical brakes. The only real modern addition is the tubeless 19.5 wheels and tires.

It’s a loud ole growly beast with the straight cut gears…but I guess in the ‘30’s and ‘40’s it probably didn’t venture much more than 15 miles from the farm.

Sure do get a lot of attention from people though.

Thank you everyone that has given their input and advice over the years.

Today I pushed my next project into the shop…a 1970 Mustang “M” code Mach 1.

Long live the old Fords!

Your truck looks great. Your time invested may keep the truck around for another hundred years. Hope you have plenty of time to enjoy driving it. Steve

You really pulled that off in a nice fashion! IMHO you did everything right! Next time we get to the Canal I will contact you for a visit. Don't go disappearing from here when you get involved with that new fangled mustang project.

Well it starts and runs like a champ due to your setting up the distributor!

I just have to bump the start button and it fires off.

The "younger" sibling is actually my Grandpas '66 F100 that he bought new. I learned to drive in it picking up hay bales from the field...the summer I was 9 years old...1966.

Snappy Don,

Great memories. I still own my Grandad Sam's '54 Ford NAA tractor which he bought new. It was the first vehicle I ever drove. I wish I had pictures of him on it, along with the flathead '52 F3 pickup he bought used, around '55.

Don,
You have done a excellent job of meeting your goals. I have read that it can take on avg 7 years to complete a project like your truck! You are right on schedule! I like the look of a truck with some of the scars and dents!
Regards,
Chris and Cheryl

Great job!!! Now you can "drive it". Bought my '34 in '69 and finished restoring it in 2009. So 7 1/2 years is not too bad. Best part is that "IT'S Done"!!

You should drive it down to the Shelton Historical Society car show downtown, I think in July. I am sure it would be a hit! Google it for the exact date. I will be there with my "new" car if weather permits.

Congratulations on completing your project. It's hard to take it slow and listen to other peoples' opinions when it's your money and your project, but there's a lot to be said for reaching out and absorbing collective knowledge like you have. I love Ford Barn. It's paid off for you. You have something really special.

The Historical Society car show is canceled for 2023...I can't seem to get any reasons why.
